Work

Work framed around the problem, the bet, the build, and the evidence.

These examples show how we think before we build. Where the work is a live product, we say so. Where it is a representative concept, we show the commercial logic without pretending there is client data.

That includes one founder-built app case study, North Star Job Hunt, which we use openly as an in-house example of our design, app thinking, and AI workflow capability.

Portfolio status

Live founder-built work and representative concepts for the kinds of businesses we are set up to serve.

Decision lens

The challenge, hypothesis, execution, and evidence standard behind each direction.

Evidence standard

They let you judge the thinking honestly while formal client results and testimonials are still building.

Professional Services

A live AI-assisted job-hunt app shaped around clarity, confidence, and guided progression.

An in-house web app built to turn a difficult job search into a more structured and supportive digital experience, combining onboarding, AI drafting, and application tracking.

Format

Founder-built live app

Best suited to

Job seekers, career changers, returners, and users with lower digital confidence.

Challenge

Most job-search tools either feel fragmented or assume the user already knows exactly what they are doing. The gap was a calmer, more guided workspace that combines job tracking with useful AI support.

Hypothesis

If the product gives job seekers one guided next step at a time, confidence and follow-through should improve because the user is not forced to manage the whole search in their head.

Execution

We shaped the product around onboarding, a command-centre workspace, AI-assisted drafting, job tracking, and future admin controls, with the interface designed for clarity before feature density.

What changed

The experience was built around a guided journey rather than a loose collection of isolated tools.
AI features were framed as editable support for CVs, cover letters, and application steps instead of opaque automation.
The wider architecture was planned from day one with real authentication, storage, moderation, and admin growth in mind.

Buyer journey focus

Land on a clear explanation of what the product helps with and who it is for.
Move into onboarding and the beginner path without feeling overwhelmed or under-qualified.
Use practical AI and tracking tools to keep momentum through the job search process.

Evidence available

Live founder-built product available for public review.
Full app architecture planned beyond the landing page, including authentication, storage, guided workflows, and AI-assisted drafting.
Used as an in-house proof point for app development, product structure, and practical AI support.

Commercial focus

Show how a product can reduce confusion, improve user confidence, and turn AI into something practical instead of gimmicky.

Clinics & Dental

A calmer, clearer website direction for a dental clinic.

A sample homepage concept built to show how a practice can look more reassuring, better structured, and easier to contact.

Format

Homepage-led concept case study

Best suited to

Private clinics, dental practices, and specialist treatment providers.

Challenge

The original online presence lacked clarity on treatments, trust signals, and consultation routes, making the practice feel smaller and less organised than it really was.

Hypothesis

If treatments, reassurance, and consultation routes are visible earlier, more visitors should understand the practice quickly enough to make an enquiry.

Execution

We reorganised the homepage concept around patient questions, treatment categories, clinician trust, and clearer consultation prompts.

What changed

Treatment information was grouped around patient questions rather than generic service labels.
The homepage was rebalanced to give trust signals, clinician reassurance, and consultation calls-to-action more prominence.
The visual direction shifted from generic healthcare styling to something calmer and more established.

Buyer journey focus

Arrive on the homepage and understand the practice in seconds.
Move from service interest to reassurance on team, standards, and process.
Take a clear next step into consultation or callback enquiry.

Evidence available

Concept case study rather than a live client deployment.
Shows the specific structural changes needed to reduce patient uncertainty before enquiry.
Ready to be measured against consultation starts, form completions, and treatment-page engagement once deployed.

Commercial focus

Build patient trust quickly and remove friction from the first consultation step.

Trades & Home Services

A clearer lead-generation site for a property maintenance business.

A representative delivery scope for a growing local property maintenance company that needs a more credible website and easier enquiries.

Format

Representative concept case study

Best suited to

Trades, maintenance firms, and home-service businesses winning work locally.

Challenge

The business relied on referrals and social media, but the website did not explain services, service areas, or why the company should be trusted.

Hypothesis

If the site makes service coverage, proof, and quote routes obvious on mobile, more local visitors should convert into useful enquiries.

Execution

We planned service-area structure, urgent quote paths, trust sections, and phone-first calls to action for people searching in a hurry.

What changed

The service structure was organised around the actual jobs and callouts customers search for.
Area coverage and proof sections were brought higher up the page to build trust faster.
The call-to-action flow was made more phone-first for urgent and mobile visitors.

Buyer journey focus

See immediately what jobs the business takes on.
Confirm coverage area, credibility, and response expectation.
Request a quote or make contact in one short step.

Evidence available

Representative scope for trades and home-service businesses.
Designed around measurable actions: quote requests, phone taps, and service-area page visits.
No live client conversion data is claimed for this concept.

Commercial focus

Turn local search visits into quote requests without making people hunt for service or coverage details.

Professional Services

A more established presentation for an accountancy and advisory firm.

A representative engagement for a firm that needs a sharper public face, clearer service explanation, and better consultation enquiries.

Format

Representative concept case study

Best suited to

Accountants, advisers, consultants, and other professional service firms.

Challenge

The previous site described services vaguely and gave visitors little sense of who the firm was best suited to help.

Hypothesis

If services are framed around client problems and consultation fit, the firm should attract better-qualified enquiries instead of general price shoppers.

Execution

We reframed the offer around client needs, simplified the service architecture, and introduced a calmer advisory presentation.

What changed

Service copy was rewritten around client problems and outcomes rather than internal descriptions.
The site structure was simplified so visitors could understand the offer without reading too much.
The tone and presentation were brought closer to a calm, dependable advisory brand.

Buyer journey focus

Understand who the firm helps and what it actually does.
See enough proof and structure to trust the first conversation.
Move naturally into a consultation or discovery call.

Evidence available

Representative scope for professional services firms.
Designed around consultation starts, service-page engagement, and fit-based enquiry quality.
No live client conversion data is claimed for this concept.

Hospitality & Local Retail

A warmer, better-managed website for a bakery and local retail business.

A representative hospitality and local retail site built to feel welcoming, current, and easy to keep updated.

Format

Representative concept case study

Best suited to

Independent bakeries, cafes, food businesses, and local retail operators.

Challenge

The business needed a better way to present opening times, product highlights, and enquiry routes without relying only on social platforms.

Hypothesis

If practical details, product appeal, and enquiry routes are easier to find on mobile, the site should support more visits, orders, and local enquiries.

Execution

We leaned into photography, mobile-first essentials, opening-time clarity, location cues, and simple pre-order or enquiry routes.

What changed

The homepage shifted from generic copy toward stronger visual merchandising and clearer essentials.
Opening times, location, and product highlights were made easier to find on mobile.
Enquiry and pre-order routes were simplified so the site supports trading rather than just presence.

Buyer journey focus

Get the feel of the business quickly from mobile.
Check practical details like hours, location, and key offerings.
Take the next step into a visit, order, or enquiry.

Evidence available

Representative scope for hospitality and local retail.
Designed around measurable actions: location checks, menu or product views, enquiry starts, and order prompts.
No live client conversion data is claimed for this concept.

Commercial focus

Support discovery, footfall, and enquiries with a website that feels as cared for as the business itself.

Next Step

If you know the business type, the next step is to view the sector-specific approach.
